This is a paragraph written by a world famous MD, PhD in his memoirs who co-authored a book with Dr. Linus Pauling. During his career he taught in a university and medical school, and began to discover the use of nutrition in curing disease early in his career, and devoted the rest of his life to using these treatments and orthomolecular medicine. He writes of his internship the following experience with MS:
"A positive memory I have of this doctor (spoken of before at length) is that he had a curious interest in vitamins: I call it curious in that he was the only one in the whole hospital with this interest. His favorite treatment for multiple sclerosis was to administer large amounts of vitamins, especially thiamin, using every possible route: oral, parenteral, and intrathecal. An injection directly into the fluid surrounding the spinal cord in the spinal canal is called an intrathecal injection. All other injectable treatments are called parenteral. He had so many MS patients on the ward that I became an expert in doing intrathecal injections of vitamin B1. At that time I did not agree with the doctor about the use of thiamin for MS and I do not recall that any of these patients got any better. Now, in hindsight, I see he was far ahead of the rest of us in this area. He was following up on the report of a Canadian physician who had found this vitamin useful. He was not aware of the work of Dr. Fred Klenner from Reidsville, North Carolina, who had restored a large number of MS patients to good health using nutrients. I know some of them. I have since treated over 60 patients using Klenner’s program with good success"
