A new crime is about to be committed in Canada on behalf of the big pharmas and the government. Even though I'm not surprised at all everyone should protest on this. This paper was introduced on April 8 by the minister of Health of Canada. Health Canada seems to move to this scary action in the name of "health" and control on peoples choices to choose a therapeutic way to treat their health problem. Natural Health Products Protection Association (NHPPA) states about the Bill C-51: "For the NHP Community this means that 75% of NHPs we rely upon for our health will become illegal. This creates the following scenario: - 75% of natural health products will become illegal; - illegal products must be voluntarily removed or be subject to Health Canada enforcement; - Health Canada has publicly announced it is hiring more enforcement officers and is holding recruitment meetings at universities. - Bill C-51 gives Health Canada unprecedented enforcement tools to force natural health products off of the market." "When the State seizes our natural health products, they are taking away our right to choose. That is, they are making our health decisions for us. We are then forced to use other treatments such as chemical pharmaceutical drugs which can be dangerous and ineffective. For those of us who only get relief from natural health products, the State forces us to suffer and in extreme circumstances, to die. The seizure of Empowerplus is an example of where deaths resulted from the State seizing a natural health product that is now freely on the market" This, of course, is not strictly a "health issue" we are dealing here but a deeply political issue. Our answer should not bother if this paper is going to benefit the market. The problem IS the capitalistic market. The correlation between the power of the capitalistic players in this "game" leads to such decisions. Big pharmas always had the upper hand so they decide how they will raise their profits. They have noticed great amounts of money "lost" on alternative, natural health methods. They do not have any guilt to cancel the majority of natural treatments or even produce and sell for themselves all the natural products. People are never given the chance to choose even though sometimes they may seem like they are. This happens because the basic problem remains. Property of the main means of production, knowledge and science is private property. If you own a house or a car this does not mean you own the means which will allow you to really live and determine your own future. People should raise their voice to this! In my opinion such phenomenons can be stopped as long as people show their power. This CAN BE STOPPED! For the shake of thousands of patients. The problem does not have to do with Canada only but sooner or later will be a problem of every "developed" and "civilized" country. The final answer will be given only when the people of work gain the power, using their struggle, to use the benefits of science and knowledge for the benefit of the people's needs and not the needs of this market.
